Virginia Swimming Pool Rules and Regulations
Regulations for the Commonwealth of Virginia for commercial swimming pools dictates the required safety equipment, pool rules signs, safety signs as well as various other traditional construction and safety regulations related to swimming pools.

Notes: | The Virginia Administrative Rules provide guidance in regards to public swimming pools. Most commercial swimming pool rules signs will comply with the Virginia rules as long as they incorporate all common safety and health regulations required for swimming pools. Other signs such as the No Lifeguard and pool should also be posted. |

- Rescue Pole 12' Required
- Ring Buoy 18" Life Ring Buoy Required
- Throw Line 1.5x pool width throw line required.
- Depth Markers Depth marked at every foot increment of depth at 5 ft. and under on both sides of pool. Greater than 5 ft. markings need not be closer than 3 ft. apart. NUMERALS AND LETTERING at least 5 inches in height.
- Rope & Float Line Provided at break in grade between shallow and deep portion, or 6” on shallow side. Line marked with visible floats at not greater than 7 ft. intervals.
